Detailed description of the project:In assisting UNICEF to achieve its mandate to advocate for the protection of children’s rights, help meet their basic needs and expand their opportunities to reach their full potential, UNICEF Albania has launched multiple projects dealing with human trafficking in and from Albania. The government demonstrated overall increasing efforts compared to the previous reporting period, considering the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its anti-trafficking capacity. As per the extensive research done by UNICEF as well as other organizations such as UNODC, Albania is a “country of source, transit, and destination for human trafficking.” While the number of women trafficked is deemed high. These women and children are trafficked for the sake of sexual exploitation and forced labor, and the poor are viewed as susceptible not only for economic reasons but also to the rigorous societal standards that they adhere to.

Detailed description of the project:The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (“FAO” or “Organization”) is implementing the programme “Support to strengthening sustainable and multipurpose forest management to improve rural livelihoods and address climate change in Kosovo”. The programme aims at increasing the forest sector’s contribution to Kosovo’s economy through a participatory and gender-responsive forest management, strengthened in accordance with relevant rules on forests, and supported with value-chains for poverty alleviation.
The Programme builds on a high level of public and media visibility to raise awareness on the importance of the forestry sector. The aim is to change public opinion and perceptions for greater responsibility for this natural resource.
