Detailed description of the project:

In assisting UNICEF to achieve its mandate to advocate for the protection of children’s rights, help meet their basic needs and expand their opportunities to reach their full potential, UNICEF Albania has launched multiple projects dealing with human trafficking in and from Albania. The government demonstrated overall increasing efforts compared to the previous reporting period, considering the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its anti-trafficking capacity. As per the extensive research done by UNICEF as well as other organizations such as UNODC, Albania is a “country of source, transit, and destination for human trafficking.” While the number of women trafficked is deemed high. These women and children are trafficked for the sake of sexual exploitation and forced labor, and the poor are viewed as susceptible not only for economic reasons but also to the rigorous societal standards that they adhere to.
